• Men’s employment rate decreased (64.5%)
• The number of women that seek job for the first time job and those who work on their own went up.
The 10.2% unemployment rate means an increase of 2.2 percentage points in twelve months and of 0.4-percentage point compared to the previous quarter.
The labour force went up 1.6% in twelve months, but was lower compared to the previous quarter. The number of men that seek job for the first time increased and played a major role in this measure, but again a greater number of workers, both men and women, exited the labour market.
In turn, the occupational rate reported a negative variation for third time in a row this year, accentuating the deterioration of this category (-0.9%). The downswing trend has affected most categories, mainly salaried workers (-1.1%), with only female own-account workers increasing in number.
Global figures show that labour participation has stalled (56.0%) and that the occupational rate has decreased (50.3%). The latter is explained by a declining men’s employment rate, which reached the lowest level in 15 years (64.5%).
The occupational rate decreased 0.8% compared to the previous quarter and in most activities, while increases were reported in Social, Community and Personal Services, Financial Services and Construction.
